Senior Bookkeeping Associate

The Senior Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing bookkeeping engagements for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Primary duties and responsibilities include maintaining general ledgers, preparing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, processing payroll, reconciling bank and credit card accounts, and preparing year-end work papers for tax return preparation.  Additionally, the Senior Bookkeeper will collaborate closely with firm leadership and tax professionals to support client advisory services and may provide guidance to junior bookkeeping staff.  We are looking for someone with 5+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in a public accounting or CPA firm environment.  This is a full-time role based in Norwell, MA, with some work-from-home flexibility after an initial introductory period.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Associate’s degree with significant experience will be considered)
  • Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB) designation preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a
    CPA or public accounting firm
  • Experience managing multiple client engagements simultaneously

Skills

  • Expert-level proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop and Online) required
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP) and payroll/tax compliance
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to analyze reports, reconcile data to accounting records, and resolve discrepancies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members
  • Strong client service and relationship management skills
